160 Years old Taltal was born as a salpeter town. It was once upon the time strategic enough to be proeminently displayed on world maps.

History lives on with the remains of huge piers, mining rails and a charcoal tank engine. The cargo boats arrived from North Americ loaded with Oregon Pine, and left with salpeter, thus houses are still largely built out of oregon pine, giving Taltal the feeling of being in a western movie, a real frontier town, as it is 350 km from it’s first neighbour and has an out-of-this-time place.
